Zachary Carter was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in its metro area.

Raised Catholic, he attended the nondenominational Landmark Christian School from kindergarten through 12th grade. After attending Trinity University, a liberal arts school in San Antonio, Texas, from 2016-2020, he moved to Salt Lake City for his PhD studies in physics at the University of Utah. Here, he experienced a refining of his Catholic faith at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Newman Center. He successfully defended his PhD dissertation on dark matter detection in April of 2026 and in July of the same year accepted a faculty position at the Chesterton Academy of Northern Utah, where he will teach primarily Science and Mathematics.

Some of Zachary’s hobbies include following sports (historically baseball and presently more so basketball, football, and volleyball, especially teams representing Atlanta and the University of Utah), and occasional geocaching and curling. Zachary’s confirmation saint is St. Joan of Arc, while St. Dismas is another personal favorite of his.
