This summer at the Chesterton Theater Camp, we’ll dive into musical‑theater scenes with a strong focus on the craft of acting. Students will receive individual and small-group coaching in acting and singing, working on character, storytelling, and stage presence while exploring material from well‑known musicals. Each musical number will be approached as a fully staged scene with personal direction, teaching campers how to build a moment, play objectives, and collaborate as an ensemble. At the end of the week, we’ll host a showcase and meet‑and‑greet for family and friends, giving the kids a chance to share their work and celebrate their growth.

Single Day Camps
Life Science Camp-July 6th
The CANU Life Science Camp will focus on awe at the little and usually unnoticed features of our biological surroundings. Students will learn to appreciate the subtleties of even a suburban living landscape, in both its flora and small fauna, by learning how to use a dichotomous key to identify plant and fungal species, studying the anatomies of captured insects and other bugs, and zooming even further into the microscopic cosmos of aquatic microorganisms.
Mathematics in the Ancient World Camp-July 9th
Why is a circle 360 degrees? How did Babylonian merchants quickly add large sums? For one day, students will leave behind the numerals they are familiar with to answer these questions and many more. We will explore the numeral system of the ancient Babylonians, the lasting implications of their mathematics, and the tools they developed to aid in their inquiry.
Greek Tragedy Camp-July 21st
A troubled town. An impossible prophecy. A heart-wrenching tale. By studying Aristotle’s Poetics and doing a full reading of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, students will learn what makes the twists and turns of Greek tragedy move our hearts to pity and fear—and why we love it
Wilderness Survival and Hiking Camp-July 28th
Students will begin the day by learning practical survival skills like point-to-point navigation, water filtration, emergency signaling and shelters, foraging, and fire building. We will then take a roughly 2-mile hike and practice putting some of these skills to use..
