Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to needs-based financial aid, Chesterton Academy of Northern Utah offers four scholarships of $500 each for incoming freshmen (current eighth-grade students).
Sister Constance of St. Denis was the youngest and first of 16 Carmelites who were martyred during the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution; as they were imprisoned and faced death, they sang psalms and hymns continually, being silenced only by the guillotine. At Chesterton, we prioritize the study of music because it fills us with joy, peace, courage, and unity in the Lord. This scholarship honors a student whose love of music leads him or her to Christ.
St. Anthony, as a follower of St. Francis, was known for his meekness and gentleness; he was also a fervent, bold, and effective preacher, unwavering in his defense of the truth. At Chesterton, seminar discussion is a primary means of instruction, and in this setting, the give and take of the seemingly contradictory qualities of humble listening and staunch forthrightness are equally necessary. This scholarship honors a student whose love of discussion, especially in the Humanities, leads him or her to Christ.
Christ appeared to St. Faustina with the central message that His mercy was more abundant than mankind could ever hope for; He commissioned her to have an image painted which depicts His mercy so that more might turn to Him. At Chesterton, we study art as a means of seeing and knowing God and His mercy through Beauty. This scholarship honors a student whose love of visual art leads him or her to Christ.
When the new Feast of Corpus Christi was instituted, the pope asked St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Bonaventure each to write texts for the liturgy. As Aquinas read his submission first, Bonaventure was so touched and so humble that he quietly tore his own and begged that Aquinas’ be selected. At Chesterton, we pray the Mass daily, and seek therein both the prayer and humility Bonaventure displayed. This scholarship honors a student whose life is led by love of the liturgy and liturgical service.
